Online petition wins little support

Written by  Ruralcity Media

ImageFewer than 70 people have signed an online petition urging the Prime Minister to recognise that rural areas face special problems.

The petition – on the Downing Street website – claims that current measures largely fail to recognise the deprivation experienced by those without access to jobs, training or services in remote areas.

Only 64 people added their name to the document before it closed on 23 May.

It is government policy to ignore petitions signed by fewer than 100 people.
