Transforming local services using digital tools

Local Government Association (LGA)

The LGA has published a set of four linked papers which set out the sector's position and priorities on maximising the opportunities of 'digital'.

Taken together the four papers set out a high-level case for investing in a coordinated and comprehensive programme of support which will enable local government to maximise the customer benefits and cost savings that can be generated from exploiting the potential of modern digital tools, technologies and approaches in local public services.

Between them, the individual papers cover a range of topics including: how councils can use digital tools and techniques and exploit digital platforms to improve their services for residents and local businesses whilst also saving public money, how councils might develop the leadership skills and understanding of digital amongst members, staff and senior officers and how good practice might be shared across the sector.
