Village Petrol Filling Stations
This report provides graphs of petrol filling station closures, and describes changing patterns of site ownership. Throughput per supermarket site is shown to be markedly greater than for other sites. The report concludes that “intense competition in fuel retailing is the major influence on the viability of rural filling stations”.
This short article (Countryside Alliance, 2012) identifies that rural residents spend 25% more on fuel than urban dwellers for their daily commute to work.
