Calling All Theatre-Makers: Rural Touring Needs You!

Applications are now officially open for the next edition of Arts Alive's Pitch Up (rural) - an exciting opportunity for theatre-makers to pitch their work directly to rural touring schemes from across the UK.

Taking place online on Monday 22nd June, Pitch Up (rural) offers artists and companies the chance to showcase their productions to programmers working throughout the rural touring network in a supportive and welcoming digital environment.

Whether you are:

  • New to rural touring,
  • Have only toured with parts of the network,
  • Or haven’t toured rurally for some time,

Pitch Up (rural) is designed to help companies connect with presenters, explore opportunities, and better understand how rural touring can work for their production.

Selected applicants will present their show through a digital pitch, combining a pre-recorded presentation with a live Q&A session.

An experienced panel of rural touring professionals will be on hand to learn more about each production, answer questions, address concerns, and offer insight into touring across the rural network.

Importantly, even companies not selected for the live showcase will still have their application shared with programmers from across the UK for consideration.

Support and guidance on preparing pitches - including examples and advice - will also be available to successful applicants.

Key Dates

  • Applications open: Wednesday 6th May
  • Applications close: Thursday 28th May
  • Successful applicants notified: Wednesday 3rd June
  • Online showcase event: Monday 22nd June, 6.45pm–9pm (via Zoom)

The rural touring network offers artists the opportunity to bring high-quality live performance to communities across the country, reaching audiences in village halls and community venues nationwide.
