RABI, the Farmers Charity is launching a £2 million emergency grant programme to support farming households affected by prolonged dry conditions across England and Wales.
Eligible farm owners and tenant farmers whose household finances are under pressure will be able to apply for a £2,000 grant towards personal and household living costs. The grants cannot be used for farm or business running costs.
The support comes after exceptionally dry weather placed further pressure on farming families. Spring 2026 was the warmest on record in both England and Wales, with England receiving only 65% of its average rainfall. Restricted irrigation, earlier harvests, lower yields and the increased cost of supporting livestock have added to financial pressures.
Applications will open in five regional phases from 7 September, with up to £400,000 available in each region.
Alicia Chivers, Chief Executive at RABI, said the grants would provide direct financial help towards essential living costs at a time of increased stress and financial pressure.
