Care Workers To Be Represented In Fair Pay Agreements

Millions of adult social care workers in England are set to be represented through a new Adult Social Care Negotiating Body, which the Government says will be established by the end of the year as part of the country’s first Fair Pay Agreement for the sector.

The new body will bring together employers and trade unions to negotiate on issues including pay, terms and conditions, helping to create a more consistent approach across adult social care. The Government says the move aims to improve recruitment and retention, recognise the value of the care workforce, and support the long-term sustainability of the sector.

For rural communities, where care providers often face additional challenges in recruiting and retaining staff due to travel distances, workforce shortages and higher service delivery costs, any measures that strengthen the social care workforce could be particularly significant.
