European elections results 2019

The BBC reports on the results of last week’s European Parliament elections, in which the UK elected a total of 73 MEPs.

The Brexit Party won 29 seats, followed by the Liberal Democrats with 16.

Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage said he was ready to ‘take on’ the main parties in a general election. Farage’s party topped the polls in every region of England apart from London, and is now the joint largest national party in the European Parliament, alongside Germany’s CDU/CSU.
