Energy costs remain a concern for many charities and community organisations, particularly when budgets are under pressure and market conditions can change quickly.
RSN member Utility Aid produces a quarterly Energy Outlook to help organisations understand what is happening in the energy market, what is influencing prices and what this could mean for their future costs.
Its June 2026 outlook explains that disruption to global oil and gas supplies has increased market uncertainty. Although prices remain below the extreme highs seen in 2022, further increases are possible if disruption continues towards winter.
The report also highlights that around 65% of the average energy bill now comprises non-commodity costs, including network charges, environmental levies and capacity payments.
Utility Aid recommends that organisations:
- review contracts approaching renewal;
- consider future energy costs when planning budgets;
- continue improving energy efficiency where possible; and
- monitor market developments as winter approaches.
The free summary provides useful information for organisations planning budgets, reviewing energy contracts or seeking a clearer picture of current market conditions.
