RSN Members help combat loneliness

Last week our members joined the leading UK loneliness charity, The Marmalade Trust, to mark Loneliness Awareness Week 2023.

Braintree District Council held a ‘Stop and Chat’ pop up in Braintree Town Centre & Halstead.  Working with Community360, Braintree Community Police and United in Kind and using furniture donated by the Salvation Army, officers welcomed local people who stopped by for a catch up.  One visitor commented “'At times, we can all feel lonely & these little pop-up lounges, have made me smile!”.

Devon County Council support a series of special events at Work Hubs across the county to bring members together and encourage people to talk more openly about loneliness. Whilst Cornwall County Council used its social media to reach out to its communities with a series of videos by its Public Health Team.
