What We Do – Hour Community

Hour Community is a registered charity based in Framlingham, Suffolk, dedicated to supporting the health, wellbeing, independence, and social inclusion of people across our local community. For over a decade, we have worked with individuals, families, and partners to provide vital, person-centred services that empower people to stay connected, healthy, and supported at every stage of life.

Our work is rooted in community need, and we offer a broad range of practical and emotional support for those experiencing isolation, ill health, or disadvantage — from young parents and carers to older people living with dementia or mobility issues. We are proud to serve as a trusted local partner, helping to bridge the gap between services, reduce social inequality, and improve everyday quality of life.

Our services include a dedicated medical transport facility and community transport, prescription delivery, and both help in the home and weekly shopping support.  We also provide befriending services, a weekly dementia friendly lunch club, and mental health drop in cafe. In addition, we run a men’s shed to promote wellbeing through practical skill-sharing and social connection, and a furniture re-use and upcycling programme through our Furniture Project.

In 2025, we proudly expanded our offering through the acquisition of a permanent community health and wellbeing hub — Hour Place — located in the heart of Framlingham. The building will serve as our operational base, housing our office and charity staff team.

The new centre aims to be a vibrant, inclusive space where people can access a variety of support services, and attend a host of wellbeing sessions, ensuring local residents can connect with others in a safe, welcoming environment.

Hour Place will bring many of our services under one roof and enable the delivery of new programmes in partnership with other agencies. From Hour Place we aim to deliver:

  • Mental health support services and community cafés
  • Dementia lunch clubs and carer groups
  • Citizens Advice and counselling services
  • Health, wellbeing, and parenting support
  • Intergenerational activities, and volunteer-led sessions
  • Flexible bookable space for outreach services and training sessions

We are deeply committed to inclusivity and sustainability. Our services are open to all, and we work hard to remove barriers to participation — whether financial, physical, or social.

Hour Community is more than just a charity — we are a neighbour, a connector, and a constant presence for those who need support. Our mission is to help individuals thrive in their community, not just survive. We continue to evolve in response to local need, guided by empathy, collaboration, and the firm belief that everyone deserves to feel seen, supported, and valued.
