Retrofit Information, Support and Expertise (RISE) is a free service offering training, guidance and support to help social housing providers, Local Authorities and their supply chains plan and deliver successful domestic retrofit programmes. Funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the service is delivered by Turner & Townsend.

Support for successful retrofit

Our expert-led team creates and delivers high quality training, events, resources and one-to-one mentoring. These are all about making it easier for organisations to develop retrofit plans that not only attract funding but also meet the needs of residents, create more comfortable homes and support decarbonisation commitments.

As a centre of excellence, RISE offers a comprehensive range of open access resources and an on-going learning and development programme, which makes accessing our support simple and easy to fit around busy schedules.

RISE Direct focuses on providing one to one, tailored support to individuals housing providers and retrofit businesses. This service is bespoke, and can be focused around any areas that a provider or business feels they need help with - from improving their resident engagement and reducing rates of refusal, to better managing their data or ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Who can RISE support?

The RISE Knowledge Hub (which includes articles, toolkits and guides, online and in-person events, recorded masterclasses and podcasts) is relevant and available to the whole domestic retrofit sector, free of charge.

RISE’s tailored one to one support (RISE Direct) is available to Social Housing providers and Local Authorities in England, as well as businesses working to provide retrofit related services (the ‘retrofit supply chain’). If you are unsure whether you are eligible, please get in touch.

The impact of RISE

From unlocking billions in funding to supporting thousands of people with training and guidance, RISE is helping organisations deliver retrofit projects right across England. By the end of 2024/25:

98% of successful Wave 2.1 SHDF bids supported by RISE
HUG 2 bids are on average £4m higher when supported by RISE
£3.31bn in retrofit funding secured so far with RISE support
502 learning events delivered – including masterclasses, online and in-person courses, Roundtables and drop-ins
533 organisations in total attended 9 conferences where RISE was present
5,800+ attendees upskilled
