Star Council Awards Open for Nominations

06 Jul 2026

Nominations are now open for the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) Star Council Awards 2026/27, the only national awards dedicated to recognising the achievements of England’s parish and town councils, along with the councillors, clerks and organisations that help them make a difference in their communities.

The awards celebrate the vital role local councils play in improving the places they serve, from delivering innovative local projects and responding to community needs to championing residents and strengthening local resilience.

This year’s award categories are:

  • Council of the Year
  • Councillor of the Year
  • Young Councillor of the Year
  • Climate Response of the Year
  • County Association of the Year
  • Clerk of the Year

The awards offer an opportunity to recognise outstanding leadership, celebrate successful initiatives and highlight the positive impact parish and town councils have across England.

Nominations are open until 25 September 2026, with the winners due to be announced at the Star Council Awards Parliamentary Reception at the House of Lords on 23 February 2027.

If you know a council, councillor, clerk or county association whose work deserves national recognition, now is an excellent opportunity to celebrate their achievements.
