Supported Housing Week: A Voice For Rural Communities

20 Oct 2026

Supported Housing Week is underway, highlighting the difference a home with the right support can make and calling for a secure future for these services.

Organised by the National Housing Federation (NHF), the first Supported Housing Week runs from until 23 October. It brings together housing providers, residents and other organisations to share experiences and help decision makers understand the value of supported housing.

For rural communities, the campaign offers an opportunity to highlight the importance of support that enables people to stay connected to their families, friends and local networks.

Rural voices should be part of discussions about where services are provided and how their future is secured.

How To Get Involved

There is still time to take part this week. The NHF has made resources available to help organisations:

  • Share stories and achievements using its online social media graphic generator and #SupportedHousingWeek.
  • Invite an MP or councillor to visit a scheme, using a template letter to explain its local impact.
  • Brief political stakeholders on the case for securing supported housing’s long-term future.

The NHF’s accompanying briefing sets out its estimate that supported housing saves taxpayers £3.5 billion a year.

For rural housing providers, councils and community organisations, the week is a chance to show what local services achieve and explain what they need to continue supporting residents.

Visit the Supported Housing Week website to access the resources and get involved.
