Taking into account the current weather & flooding situation across the country we have decided to postpone the West Midlands Regional Seminar which was supposed to take place this upcoming Monday, 24th of February 2020 at Stafford Borough Council.

Brexit impacts on the countryside

The Financial Times reported on the possibilities for the British countryside post-Brexit.

The article laments that the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) used lucrative incentives to encourage British farmers to cultivate huge swathes of land, leaving the countryside bereft of unmanaged, truly wild landscapes.

The article highlighted the benefits of the Government’s proposed Agriculture Bill, which will see farmers rewarded for a range of activities outside simply food production, such as maintaining the hedges, rivers and wildlife on their land.
