Cabinet reshuffle sparks rural planning law debate

Farmers Weekly reports that following the removal of Robert Jenrick MP from his role as Housing Secretary during last week’s Cabinet Reshuffle, speculations have appeared on whether the housebuilding programme, Project Seed, will go ahead.

Mr Jenrick was known for masterminding the planning change aimed to pave the way for roadbuilding and the construction of up to 300,000 homes a year across England’s countryside. These new planning laws would have allowed huge development in rural areas. Concerns have now risen amongst rural communities as Michael Gove MP assumes his post, pausing proposed planning changes in order to review them.
