Campaign celebrates bus services

A new campaign is celebrating the benefits of bus travel and the diversity of bus passengers, ahead of Catch the Bus Week..

Launched by Bus Users UK, the #ilovemybus initiative is using social media to celebrate the benefits of bus travel.

Bus Users UK is an independent, registered charity that aims to bring people and communities together through socially inclusive transport.

People are being invited to send in a selfie of themselves on a bus with a caption to say why their bus is so important to them.

The best selfie and #ilovemybus caption will win an Apple Smart Watch, generously donated by Transdev Blazefield.

Bus Users is keen to encourage a broad cross-section of people to get involved.

Bus Users England director Dawn Badminton-Capps said: “Buses ease congestion, are good for the environment, and are used by more people than any other form of public transport.

“Bus passengers represent every social group and include people of all ages and from all backgrounds, and we want to celebrate that. Asking bus users to share their selfies and captions will showcase the diversity of passengers and the reasons why they love their bus.”

The campaign runs until 28 July when Bus Users will be judging the best selfie and caption.

Entries can be sent in by twitter using the tag @BusUsersUK, on the Bus Users UK Facebook page or by email to supporters@bususers.org

Photos sent in by email will be shared on social media.
