As part of our strategy to continue to maintain and build our profile within our local community we have launched a quarterly newsletter available to all of our stakeholders and partners and anyone else who has an interest in keeping in contact with us on a relatively informal basis.
If you would be interested in this, please email [email protected] and we will send you a copy. If you would like to be added to our mailing list, you can opt in by clicking the link on the last page.
Our Annual Impact Reports detail our success in helping over 15,000 people in our financial year 2023-24 with nearly 50,000 problems generating over £12 million into additional family income.
In the first two months of our financial year 2024-25 we already generated more than £2 million into additional family incomes which is a sad reflection on community need but also a resounding endorsement for the services we provide.
We are constantly seeking ways to improve our services including the option of introducing video services having introduced email advice services in June 2023. Our website is being
overhauled to help people who can, access information they need to resolve their problems via digital means. However, we accept that many people do not have access to digital channels or, indeed, want them, preferring to rely on telephone or face to face advice. We are proud to say that 25% of advice is now via face to face appointments in many venues across the communities we serve.
We have great partnerships with organisations who share our passions and our principles and we continue to seek new partnerships that enable us to extend our range of advice and information across our area. Our Devon-wide Macmillan project which includes CA Torbay, Plymouth and Exeter is a prime example borne of a long term relationship with our key stakeholder Macmillan.
At the heart of our service, however, is our people; the dedicated staff and volunteers who work tirelessly and with total dedication to help the people with the problems they are facing. That’s why we unashamedly pursue a policy of ongoing recruitment for volunteers. They are fundamental to our ability to provide a high quality service but also benefit from the opportunity to develop existing skills, acquire new ones and make new friends in the process!
We don’t look for specified skills or experience when we recruit volunteers, we look at the people – their ability to listen and lend a sympathetic ear whilst providing reassurance that we can help with problems. Full training and ongoing support is provided.
