Concerns raised about the futures of a growing number of Post Offices

A group of 90 MPs and Peers who belong the All Party Parliamentary Group on Post Offices has written to the BEIS Minister and CEO of POL asking for action to address the growing number of post offices which are temporarily closed or which are operating as part-time outreaches

This concern was flagged in the recent State of Rural Services Report (produced by Rural England CIC), given that all the outreaches involved are pretty much all within rural areas.

Despite the clock ticking, the Treasury has still not announced the level of public subsidy that will be made available to underpin the uncommercial part of the post office network in 2022/23. The Treasury have indicated that they will announce something in the next few weeks.

The subsidy was £50m in 2021/22, which apparently underpinned around a third of the network.
