Go Cornwall Bus plays a vital role in providing rural bus services across Cornwall, under the partnership of Transport for Cornwall. Working in partnership with Cornwall Council to ensure that rural communities remain connected. These services are crucial for people in remote areas who would otherwise struggle to access essential services, shops, employment opportunities and education.
Rural services are a lifeline for residents, Go Cornwall Bus run 160 buses, driven by 300 drivers, connecting over 100 towns and villages across the Duchy.
Buses come in all sizes depending on both their purpose and road conditions. Although extremely rural, Go Cornwall Bus operate 66 double deck buses a day. These buses act as both school transport and local bus services. Nearly all the Go Cornwall Bus fleet have a school movement included in its daily work.
Even minibus operated routes have multiple jobs to do. The Cornwall Council subsidised 28 route for instance, served by a fully accessible minibus, provides multiple connections.
It connects local villages to both the small ancient stannary town of Lostwithiel and the larger town of St Austell, a town with a rich cultural heritage.
The service stops just a 2-minute walk from Lostwithiel Train Station and stops within the bus hub at St Austell Train Station, both stations are on the main rail network.
In the off peak the service also calls in at The Eden Project, Cornwalls Eco Visitor Attraction. Connecting the venue to the rest of the UK using public transport.
Go Cornwall Bus operates out of 14 depots across Cornwall, varying in size. From a 4 bus out station near Looe, to its maintenance facility at Newquay Airport.
In the most recent passenger satisfaction surveys, run by independent body Transport Focus, Cornwall scored the second highest score for a rural setting. Go Cornwall Bus scored second highest in the UK, top in a rural setting, for overall satisfaction with the bus driver.
