First Church Archdeacon for 'Rural Mission' appointed

Canon Sally Gaze is the first Church of England Archdeacon for Rural Mission to be appointed, according to the Church Times.

The Archdeacon for Rural Mission will help to increase church attendance in rural areas and strengthen community ties. Canon Gaze said she will ‘take risks’ to tackle isolation and loneliness in rural communities.

She continued: ‘Decline in rural Church is like an early warning system for the national Church. It is also part of the same cultural change which has led to a loss of social capital and an increase in loneliness and mental-health issues in rural areas’
