STAKEHOLDERS are invited to get involved with Rural Housing Week, which runs from 6-10 July.
Each year, Rural Housing Week aims to demonstrate the important role affordable housing plays in maintaining rural communities.
Building affordable homes in rural communities makes it easier for local people to continue to live in the same area as their friends and family.
But it also helps to preserve the economic viability of rural communities by ensuring continued demand for key services,.
These include shops, schools, post offices and pubs and providing the homes needed by people working locally.
Many affordable homes are built by housing associations, local authorities and community organisations.
During Rural Housing Week, these organisations will be highlighting rural housing issues by organising a range of local activities.
Last year, these activities varied from exhibitions in local libraries, debates, coffee mornings and visits to rural schemes.
Endorsed by the Rural Housing Alliance, the week takes place from 6-10 July and is coordinated through the National Housing Federation.
The federation will assist with media packs, draft letters to councillors and MPs, social media and other mechanisms.
To receive a media pack or for further information, please email Monica Burns at [email protected].
