Government Announces £7.6m For Local Government Reorganisation Proposals

The Government has published details of Proposal Development Contributions: Area Allocations, setting out funding to support areas submitting proposals for Local Government Reorganisation.

£7.6 million has been made available to 21 areas in the form of Local Government Reorganisation Proposal Development Contributions — the first time capacity funding has been made available for this purpose. The funding recognises the government’s priority for progressing reorganisation proposals.

Each area will receive a flat rate of £135,000, plus an additional 20p per person based on the latest ONS population estimates. Areas must agree on up to three councils to receive an equal share of the funding.
