The Government has launched a major consultation on Exploring the Role of Alternative Clean Heating Solutions. The consultation is seeking evidence on low-carbon options for buildings that may not be suitable for heat pumps or heat networks. This includes electric heating technologies, thermal storage, biomass systems, hybrid models and emerging innovations.
We encourage RSN members to review the consultation, participate and share your insights, particularly around what this means for rural, off-gas and hard-to-treat homes. Your experience on the ground is essential in shaping fair, practical and workable policy.
The consultation closes at 11.59PM on 10 February 2026.
If you or a colleague is interested in Net Zero and the future of rural decarbonisation, our next RSN member-exclusive seminar takes place on 28 January 2026, with a dedicated focus on Net Zero. Book your place here today. The full 2026 Seminar programme can be viewed here.
