UK Research and Innovation have a number of current funding calls, including:

Innovate UK Smart Grants

Funding is available to deliver commercially viable research and development activities Projects require collaboration between businesses and research institutions. Closing date: 26 May 2021.

Healthy Ageing Catalyst Awards 2021

Grant funding and support to turn research into products and services for healthy ageing.

Projects must develop innovative, high risk and high reward ideas to help people enjoy at least five extra healthy and independent years of life by 2035, and narrow the gap between the experiences of the richest and the poorest.

Funding of up to £50,000 is available for up to 12 months. Closing date to be confirmed.

Mental health data research hub

Funding is available to set up a mental health data research hub in partnership with Health Data Research UK.

The hub will underpin original research by providing innovative, high-value data resources for research and innovation. It will not directly support original research.

Up to £2,000,000 in funding is available for the development of one hub over three years, with 80% of the full economic costs covered by the grant.

Closing date: 25th February 2021.

Pain research data hub – SPF Advanced Pain Discovery Platform

Funding of up to £2,000,000 is available to set up a Pain Research Data Hub. The hub will be part of the UKRI and Versus Arthritis Strategic Priority Fund (SPF) Advanced Pain Discovery Platform. It will underpin original research by providing innovative new data assets for pain research in areas of need. Interested parties must submit an intention to apply by 29th January 2021 to spfpain@mrc.ukri.org.


NFU Mutual Charitable Trust

Grants of between £1,000 and £50,000 are available for charities working in agriculture, rural development and insurance. NFU Mutual are particularly interested in initiatives in the areas of education of young people in rural areas and the relief of poverty within rural areas, and in larger initiatives, which would have a significant impact on the rural community. The closing date for applications is the 29th May 2021.
