Local authorities want new powers to decarbonise transport

At an international climate change summit that happened on 13th July, local and regional leaders proposed a series of measures to help cut emissions

These signatories want new powers to decarbonise transport.

The climate change committee recently found that local authorities can influence around one third of emissions in local areas through place shaping and partnerships.

Polly Billington, CEO of UK100, added: “We need a power shift from central government to local communities to tackle climate change.”
