This fall coincides with a 55% increase in the average fare price. In addition, a recent study by the Campaign for Better Transport (CBT) revealed that many areas are without public transport as funding for bus services has almost halved in eight years.
CBT’s chief executive, Darren Shirley, warned that continued cuts would mean that people – especially those in rural areas – ‘are losing their bus service, making it difficult to access jobs, education and other essential public services.’
