Speaker Spotlight: Richard Stevens MBE DL FCILT, Managing Director of Plymouth Citybus
We are also delighted to introduce Richard Stevens, who will be speaking in the Rural Transport session. Richard has been the Managing Director of Plymouth Citybus, part of the Go Cornwall Bus network, since 2012. Under his leadership, the company has grown to serve over 18 million passengers a year, employing 950 staff and operating 350 buses.
Richard’s career in the bus industry began in 1989 as a bus driver in Cornwall, and over the last three decades, he has developed deep expertise in transport and regional development. His leadership extends beyond the transport sector; he chairs the Devon & Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, Plymouth Growth Board, and Destination Plymouth, where he champions local businesses and promotes regional economic growth.
Recognised for his outstanding contributions, Richard was awarded an MBE in the 2023 New Year's Honours list and serves as one of the King’s Deputy Lieutenants, representing Devon and Cornwall. His dedication to community, education, and economic development has made a lasting impact on the region.
