New Chair of Rural Services All Party Parliamentary Group

The All Party Parliamentary Group for Rural Services held it’s AGM last week and elected a new Chair for 2023-2024

Philip Dunne MP has held the position of Chair of the group for a number of years and stood down from the post at the meeting last week. 

Also Chair of the Environmental Audit Committee, Philip represents the rural constituency of Ludlow has long been a vocal campaigner for rural areas, championing their causes in Parliament.

In 2022-2023 the All Party Parliamentary Group for rural services considered key issues such as Adult Social Care in rural areas, decarbonisation of Off Grid Gas Heating and Fair Funding and the Local Government Finance Settlement, often with Ministers attending the meetings to answer questions on the topic.

At the AGM, Derek Thomas MP who represents the constituency of West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, was elected as the new Chair of the group.
