Locality have now opened year 4 of the neighbourhood planning support programme to help groups prepare neighbourhood plans and neighbourhood development orders. The opening comes with two new elements of support and you can find out more information on each of them below.
Bespoke high streets regeneration and social infrastructure support and follow up grant
This support is for groups wanting to bring forward schemes that will foster high street regeneration or provide useful social infrastructure. You do not need to be eligible for technical support to unlock this package.
If successful, you will be eligible for bespoke facilitation and, if through this support it is determined that you are likely to succeed with your proposal, there will be an opportunity to apply for a follow up grant of up to £15,000.
The number of groups the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) can offer support to is limited, and therefore applications will be opened for a limited time only from 15 April 2021 to 5pm on 17 May 2021.
If a high volume of applications is received, then selection criteria may be applied by MHCLG in due course to help them make their decision.
A new site viability package of technical support
Many neighbourhood planning groups seek to bring forward development on specific sites, for example via an allocation in a neighbourhood plan or via neighbourhood development orders (NDOs) and Community Right to Build Orders (CRtBOs). To ensure the proposals are both successful and deliverable, they must be viable. This package will help you understand the viability of your proposed development scheme. You must be eligible for technical support to unlock this package.
