Round up from #RuralHousingWeek

Last week, the RSN and many of its members proudly supported Rural Housing Week. Led by the National Housing Federation, the week aimed to shine a spotlight on the housing challenges facing people and the true depth of the homelessness crisis in rural areas.

Devon Communities Together shared some of their success stories of communities pulling together to ensure affordable housing.

Ahead of Rural Housing Week, Midlands Rural Housing hosted the Chair of the Government’s Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Committee. Clive Betts MP (Lab, Sheffield South East) heard from leaders from the housing sector and local authority representatives about a range of issues.

And ACRE ensured stories like Franc’s were heard, so people start to understand the extent of Britain’s rural Hidden Homelessness crisis.

The RSN was delighted to stand alongside key rural organisations as the Rural Homelessness Coalition was launched, you can read more about the five principles of this coalition.

RSN Chief Executive, Kerry Booth, says the work does not stop here:

“Affordable housing in rural areas remains a priority for RSN.  We will continue to work with our members and our partners to address the issue and bring the right homes to the right areas for our rural communities.”
