RSN response to the Comprehensive Spending Review

The Government announced earlier in the year its Comprehensive Spending Review which is carried out approximately every three years to allocate funding to departments which provides certainty for government departments to plan ahead

The Government asked for written representations to comment on government policy and the Rural Services Network has provided a wide ranging response.

The RSN carried out a consultation with member organisations to ensure that our response is representative of the views of our rural members.  We are keen to ensure that the rural voice is included in consultation responses to the Government.

The supporting information document contains facts and figures and a number of policy asks on Government.

With the announcement that the Treasury has scrapped the plans for the Autumn Budget in recent days in order to focus on the here and now, it will be interesting to see how they respond to the CSR.  The RSN is keen to ensure that all of the Government's future plans include rural policy and spending provision to ensure that rural is not left behind in investment terms.
