Cumbria Action for Sustainability is Cumbria’s climate change and sustainability organisation. We’ve been working towards our vision of a zero carbon Cumbria since we were established in 1997, running all sorts of projects, events, training and consultancy to help people, communities, businesses and organisations to live and work more sustainably and reduce their carbon footprint.
We’re perhaps best known for our work to reduce the carbon footprint of Cumbria’s homes and other buildings. We run the annual Cumbria Green Build and Sustainable Living Festival, sharing the ideas, inspiration and skills to green up homes, businesses and even communities. The main festival includes dozens of events throughout September, with more across the year.
We also offer draughtproofing and energy-saving advice services, which are free of charge for vulnerable people in our county thanks to grant funding.
Our consultancy services include energy audits and thermal imaging surveys, and our previous clients have included local authorities in Cumbria as well as individual homeowners.
Community energy is another big theme for our work. We have helped to set up a number of community energy groups and supported them in installing successful solar and hydro schemes in Cumbria.
