Eden Housing Association Development Focus in Cumbria

Eden Housing Association (EHA) is a predominantly rural provider located in the Eden District of Cumbria with a stock of 1,800 units across Cumbria and the Lake District.  EHA aims to deliver over 50 units by 2023 across the Eden District and Cumbria in small-scale developments that focus on maintaining strong communities in areas of high rural demand for affordable housing.

EHA specialises in providing affordable housing in communities where housing is often far from affordable.  A recent development was completed in the Lakeland village of Threlkeld where second home ownership is high and property and rental prices restrictive to those on an average local income.  The development provided 7 houses for affordable rent and local occupancy at base of the iconic Blencathra fell. 

Going forwards EHA propose to continue this model and work with community groups in and around the Lake District to bring affordable housing to areas where it is most in demand.  This approach is alongside of EHA’s continuing track-record of providing high standard new homes in the market towns and villages of the Eden District.
