Our Low Carbon business unit specialises in economic analysis, technical and policy appraisal and we have a particular interest in the delivery of low carbon heat and transport. We are at the heart of the current debate over off-grid heating regulations and can help decisionmakers to consider options and develop strategic thinking and intervention options necessary to achieve environmental goals.

An example of our work is the development in 2021 of a comprehensive heat decarbonisation strategy for the Isle of Man Government. The strategy was commissioned to support the island’s net zero target. It takes into account the needs of a wide range of communities on the island, the challenges associated with retrofitting older properties, those in coastal exposure zones and taking into network constraints. Our modus operandi is to get into the detail of the community we are working with, the unique circumstances and challenges faced. Solutions must be identified that work locally whilst being in line with national funding opportunity and regulatory requirements.

Other recent projects include assisting heating manufacturer Baxi with a call for green heating credits to support Heat Pump roll out and working with the LPG industry to develop and promote renewable liquid gases which in turn offer a complementary low carbon heating option for use in hard to treat rural properties. We also assisted the Heat Pump Association as it played a key role in the development of the £5,000 Boiler Upgrade Grant Scheme for low carbon heating technologies.

We have undertaken a substantial volume of work supporting policy implementation. For example, we are providing support with application management and contact centre services to the Mayor of London’s energy efficiency programme known as Warmer Homes 3 which stands to help thousands of vulnerable customers receive energy upgrades.

Our Health Business Unit works with health services across the UK, including the NHS, Government and other key stakeholders. Our activities centre around achieving Net Zero within healthcare and digital transformation of healthcare services. Helping to improve efficiency and availability of healthcare whilst ensuring that patients receive the best possible service.
