Warwickshire Older People’s Forum (WOPF) represents the interests and promotes the wellbeing of older people in the county.
Its 30 members and partners include NHS bodies, local authorities, voluntary and community organizations and the private sector. These include the Coventry and Warwickshire Year of Wellbeing, Warwickshire Out of Hospital Collaborative Care, Dementia Action Alliance and Healthwatch Warwickshire.
WOPF meets twice a year, holds an annual conference, contributes to consultations on older peoples issues and lobbies commissioners and providers of OP services.
WOPF is focused on the main health and wellbeing concerns affecting older people, viz. the NHS, adult social care, dementia, social isolation and loneliness, and access to services inc transport.
Warwickshire is a rural county, especially in the north and south: the Stratford District covers half the county’s area and is one of England’s most sparsely populated districts. Difficulties in accessing hospitals and GPs’ surgeries because of poor public transport, the need for NHS and other authorities to take full account of rural considerations in NHS their and wellbeing strategies, and social isolation in rural areas are particular challenges.
