Rural Britain transitioning from fossil fuels to clean power

The Business Standard reports how the British countryside is accelerating the transition from fossil fuels to clean power

As solar and wind power is now becoming cheaper than fossil fuels, the 1,92,000 farms in the UK heavily reliant on natural gas present a “big opportunity” to transition.

40% of farmers in the UK are currently using the sun, wind and farm by-products to produce low-carbon energy despite implications of both Brexit and Covid-19, and many more are looking at these eco-solutions.

As per official estimates, the energy produced in the rural areas generates at least 10% of the UK's electricity needs.
