Rural housing in conference spotlight

Ways of delivering more affordable rural housing will be discussed at a major conference in London next month.

With the theme Saving Rural Communities, the 2018 Rural Housing Conference is aimed rural housing associations, local authorities and stakeholders.

The one-day conference takes place on 4 July at One Great George Street, Westminster.

The event will bring together key figures from across the rural housing sector to debate the key issues facing rural housing.

Topics will range from the need to influence policy and increase development to showcasing housing associations’ innovative solutions to delivering sustainable rural communities.

Delegates will:

  • hear from politicians and rural experts
  • join in a debate exploring the issues around rural development
  • be part of the campaign to deliver more affordable rural housing
  • find solutions to build more homes
  • see how building more homes can increase diversity, create jobs and drive growth
  • collaborate with others to gain political support to address rural issues.

Workshops include ways of create truly balanced and sustainable rural communities, the provision of rural services and employment opportunities for the younger generation.

Best practice will be shared by housing associations creating some of the most innovative models of rural housing and service provision.

Ways that housing associations are tackling loneliness and isolation in rural communities in lots of different ways will also be showcased.
