Rural Services Network Welcomes New Government and Prime Minister

As the Rural Services Network (RSN), the national advocate for rural services and communities, we extend our congratulations to the new government and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with the new leadership to unlock the immense potential of rural areas across England.

Rural communities are dynamic hubs of innovation, culture, and economic promise. However, these areas have historically faced challenges such as underfunding, inadequate public services, and limited connectivity. The RSN is committed to ensuring that the unique needs and perspectives of rural residents are represented and addressed in national policy.

Kerry Booth, Chief Executive of the Rural Services Network:

"As we welcome the new government, we are optimistic about the opportunities ahead to drive significant improvements in rural communities. Our mission is to ensure that rural areas receive fair funding, enhanced connectivity, and robust public services. By working together, we can create sustainable and thriving rural communities that contribute significantly to the nation's overall prosperity."

The RSN is dedicated to supporting the new government in shaping effective rural policies. We understand the unique challenges and opportunities within rural areas and are ready to offer our expertise and assistance in any way possible. By working with the government, we can ensure that rural voices are heard and that policies reflect the needs of these vital communities.

To coincide with the new government, we have launched our "Delivering for Rural" campaign. This campaign sets out a comprehensive roadmap for the next government on rural policy. Our goal is to ensure that rural areas receive the attention and resources they deserve. The roadmap includes key policy recommendations to address the disparities in funding, connectivity, and services that rural communities face.

We are confident that with the new government's commitment to inclusive and balanced development, we can work towards policies that not only support urban centres but also recognises the essential role of rural areas in shaping a prosperous and resilient nation.
