The rebates come as every home in the UK will receive at least a £400 grant in the coming months.
The grant, administered directly by energy suppliers, will be paid to consumers over six months with payments starting from October 2022.
People with more than one home will receive the payment for every property they own - meaning second home owners will receive additional money even if not they are not using the property. Initially, a £200 reduction was going to be paid back in instalments over five years.
However, the discount was subsequently doubled, and no longer has to be repaid.
In light of this, Cornish business leaders, charities and residents are pleading with second homeowners to donate theirs.
The news comes as Cornwall residents are in an unprecedented cost of living crisis, with a 75 per cent increase in families seeking food parcels, 1500 people in emergency accommodation and over 21,000 on housing waiting lists.
