ITV reports on claims from campaigners that plans to build a million new homes between Oxford and Cambridge, nicknamed The Oxford-Cambridge Arc, would destroy an area of countryside roughly the size of Birmingham (67,000 acres).

Analysis by the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) estimates that there is enough capacity for 50,000 houses on previously developed or brownfield land within the proposed Arc.

The CPRE has also said that only 2,200 affordable homes are planned, despite recommendations that 12,000 are needed in that region.
