Tories no longer the party of rural life, says Corbyn

The Telegraph covers comments made by the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, in which he claimed that the Conservatives are no longer the party of rural communities

Corbyn, speaking last week at the Tolpuddle Martyrs’ Festival before it was announced that Boris Johnson had won the leadership contest, said: ‘A Conservative Government taking us off the cliff edge of a No Deal Brexit would be a direct attack on rural communities, which could cause devastation on the same scale as the Thatcher government’s attack on mining communities in the 1980s.’

The paper believes that these comments are an indication of the lines that Labour is planning to take should a general election be called.
