Upskill in Emergency Medicine Point of Care Ultrasound

The School of Medicine at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) will be holding a three-day CPD course for health professionals to gain practical skills in Emergency Medicine Point of Care Ultrasound.

This short course is suitable for emergency doctors, advanced clinical practitioners, nurses, paramedics, physician associates as well as other healthcare professionals who have little or no previous knowledge of ultrasound. You'll gain a comprehensive understanding of ultrasound and ultrasound system skills as well as the basic techniques needed to undertake Emergency Medicine PoCUS examinations. You'll train using tissue-mimicking phantoms and mid to high-specification ultrasound equipment.

This course meets the 2021 Royal College of Emergency Medicine PoCUS syllabus objective; empowering trainees to gain, maintain, and progress in PoCUS competencies.

You’ll study at our Preston Campus for three 10-hour days combining theoretical components with practical workshop sessions. At the end of the course, you'll have the opportunity to undertake a clinical ultrasound assessment to test your confidence in demonstrating newly acquired PoCUS knowledge and skills.

The teaching team are expert sonographers and emergency physicians. All staff have extensive clinical experience and proven teaching skills, they teach with a relaxed but informative style.
