MAJOR BOOST TO THE CAMPAIGN FOR A RURAL STRATEGY:
The Independent Food, Farming & Countryside Commission hosted by the RSA in its report launched on Tuesday 16th July ‘Our Future in the Land’ has added its voice to the calls by the RSN and the House of Lords Select Committee for a comprehensive Rural Strategy (more to follow)
Matt Phillips, a Blewbury local, worked with the media company Disciple after becoming fed up with traditional social media.
‘Facebook is designed for advertisers, not communities,’ he said. ‘We want to create a focal point for campaigning and fundraising for things like our new village hall, so I hope the Blewbury app can help us do that.’
One tenth of the population signed up in the first few days, and Mr Phillips says he hopes it is a model that other villages can emulate in the future.
