The Environment Agency has warned those in the South West against hiring ‘man and van’ rubbish removers on Facebook
Using unregistered waste removal firms often means rubbish is dumped or burned, and could mean that those who hire them are given a criminal record.
In particular, registered waste removal businesses in the South West have become concerned about the number of ‘man and van’ adverts and self-promotion on Facebook and other social media platforms offering to take away people’s rubbish.
The news comes as people in rural areas have seen a worrying rise in fly-tipping and rubbish during lockdown.
