Stop rural fuel stations overcharging

A cross-party group of MPs has called for a new independent watchdog to monitor the cost of fuel, as reported by the Shropshire Star.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Fair Fuel has accused fuel stations of profiteering from consumers and wants a new body, Pumpwatch, to regulate prices.

Working with FairFuelUK, the group has launched an ePetition to put pressure on the Government.

Howard Cox, founder of FairFuelUK and secretary to the APPG, emphasised the plight of rural drivers: ‘In rural communities where public transport is poor and unreliable, people need their vehicles to get from A to B.  It is essential they pay the fairest price. That is where a price monitoring system would support them’.
