A RURAL housing review is exploring how more affordable homes can be provided in the countryside.
'Where next for rural affordable housing?' is the question posed by Lord Best, chairman of the Rural Housing Policy Review.
Set up by Hastoe Housing Association, the Rural Housing Policy Review is exploring what has changed since the production of key reports into rural affordable housing published from 2005 to 2008 - and what now needs to happen to assist delivery.
The review group is chaired by Lord Best and includes authors of these key reports, Lord Matthew Taylor and Elinor Goodman, plus movers and shakers of rural affordable housing delivery from across the country.
Findings of the Review will inform recommendations to national policy makers and assist those responsible for delivery.
The review needs input from local authorities. Much has changed since 2008 - a different economic climate exists and new policies have been introduced.
Researchers are particularly interested in how have these affected councils' ability to deliver rural affordable housing and what still needs to be done.
Local authorities can directly contribute to the review by completing a short tick box questionnaire that can be accessed by clicking here.
Organisers say completing the questionnaire will take about 15 minutes and be enormously helpful to the review group.
Completed questionnaires should be returned by 25 June to [email protected].
Any questions or queries should be directed to Jo Lavis via her email address. Also contact Jo if you would like to participate in the questionnaire but are not a local authority.
