Who are your leading Councillors?

The Local Government Information Unit (LGIU), are looking to showcase the leading councillors who have made a real difference to their communities over the last year at the 2023 LGIU Cllr Awards and they are keen to have your support.

Do you know a local councillor whose work deserves to be recognised nationally?

Nominations are now open for the 14th annual Cllr Awards – the only national awards ceremony that celebrates the work of councillors across England and Wales. The deadline for all nominations is just over a month away on Friday 22 September.

This year’s categories are Community Champion, Leader of the Year, Young Councillor of the Year, Resilience Champion and Lifetime Legend

Nominations can be made by anyone – including members of the public, Councillors and Council Officers – who would like to recognise a councillor who has gone above and beyond in representing their area over the last year. It only takes seven minutes to apply and is completely free of charge.

More information including how to apply can be found at this link

As you know at the Rural Services Network, we champion the work of rural councils and it would be great to have those representing rural areas nominated to recognise the fantastic work that they all do!
