Budget plans for broadband

The Chancellor will announce today hundreds of millions of pounds to support superfast broadband in remote areas of the country, according to The Sunday Telegraph.

Phillip Hammond is expected to put technology at the heart of the Autumn Budget with plans to connect rural schools and libraries with ‘full fibre’ internet.

Sources say that once fibre internet cables are connected to local hubs, residents and businesses would be able to connect their homes and premises.

Hammond said: ‘It is the spending on the skills of the next generation, the infrastructure, including the digital infrastructure, the broadband infrastructure…It’s the network infrastructure that will make this country work.’
