This analysis in the Economy Insight series looks at the number of people that are claiming unemployment related benefits as a proportion of the population that is working age (16 to 64 years old). The analysis uses the Alternative Claimant Count which is an experimental statistical measure that gives the number of people claiming unemployment related benefits by modelling what the count would have been if Univeral Credit had been fully rolled out since 2013 with the broad span of people this covers. The analysis provides comparison with averages for local authorities of same class and rural classification.
