The Rural Services Network is meticulously examining today’s statement concerning the Provisional Local Government Settlement. We are committed to fully assessing the implications for our rural member councils, especially with the concerning decision to 'repurpose' the Rural Services Delivery Grant.

Our experts are hard at work analysing the data as it becomes available today. We will issue a detailed response soon, ensuring all member authorities are well-equipped to partake in the consultation process effectively. This consultation closes on 15 January 2025.

We will also be equipping rural MPs from our member authorities with the necessary data to effectively challenge and influence decisions at the ministerial level.

Furthermore, we welcome the opportunity to contribute to the additional consultation on local authority funding reform, also announced today. We will be formulating our response and will share this with our members in due course. This consultation closes on 12 February 2025.
